Is Craniosacral safe for everyone?
Because only light touch used, Craniosacral is one of the safest forms of bodywork. My work as your Craniosacral practitioner consists largely of listening to your body and enabling it to access its own healing capabilities.
However, there are certain times when treatments cannot take place. These include the following recent events:
- Stroke.
- Acute intracranial bleeding.
- Intracranial aneurysm.
- Spinal tap or puncture of the craniosacral system where there is currently leaking of spinal fluid.
- Skull fracture.
- Herniation of the medulla oblongata.
In short, treatment is contra-indicated when any physiological condition is present in which slight changes in intracranial pressure could adversely affect you. As a precaution, check first with your primary healthcare provider. As well, I’m happy to speak to her/him about your situation.
